A political leader, often known as a politician, is someone who is in charge of administering a tribe, city, state, area, or even a country. History has produced a plethora of political leaders, both good and evil, who have committed their careers to improving their countries and the lives of their citizens. Political leaders are responsible for governing nations not only in times of peace, but also in times of crisis. They are those in charge of developing and implementing plans and programs that will better serve the interests of the country they lead. These leaders are chosen by a variety of means, including elections in a democratic country, lineage or birthright in a monarchy, and even dictatorships in which one individual announces himself to be the head of state. Names like Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, Obama, and even Genghis Khan can be found in the hall of fame of political leaders.
