Fondly referred to as the Haryana Hurricane, Kapil Dev is the incomparable legend in the field of cricket and perhaps the greatest fast-bowling all-rounder the world has ever witnessed. Born on the 6th of January in 1959, to a teak merchant and his wife, Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj made his Test cricket debut in the city of Faisalabad in Pakistan, in the year 1978. Although that game started weak, Dev went on to display his talent and skills in the 3rd Test match, leaving the audience in absolute shock, amazement and awe. In the famous 1983 Cricket World Cup, Kapil Dev proudly captained the team to a celebrated first ever victory, thus becoming the first Indian captain to bag the Cricket World Cup. He was named by ‘Wisden’, a broadly accepted cricket reference book, as the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002.
