"Born on the 14th of November 1943, Aditya Vikram Birla was one of the biggest industrialists the country had ever seen. He became one of the 1st Indian industrialists to expand his business to foreign countries and thereby setting up several plants in Philippines, Southeast Asia and Egypt. Although he passed away at an early age of just 51, due to prostate cancer, he successfully left a legacy of his own. The Aditya Birla scholarships were instituted by his group to honour his memory, from which every year, 40 students from 7 Indian Institutes and 4 law colleges are presented with these scholarships. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and was married to Rajashree Birla with whom he has two children - a daughter and a son. The son, Kumar Mangalam Birla has now taken over and heads the Aditya Birla the group."
