To meet with the daily needs of our growing population, industries are setup to produce different products. Different raw materials used and the waste obtained from them are sometimes hazardous to the environment. Dumping of these waste to aquatic bodies or emission of gases to the atmosphere is causing water and air pollution respectively. Methyl Isocyanate gas leakage caused Bhopal Gas Tragedy is an incident to remember the effect of these chemicals on mankind. Effects of industrial pollution can affect human health, also the survival of plants and animals. Every chemical used in industry, like caustic soda, iron and steel, pesticides, fertilizers, textiles, tanneries are all producing waste products causing air, water and land pollution. Thermal pollution is occurring when hot water is released into water bodies and noise pollution by running of heavy machinery. Even the marine ecosystems are badly affected destroying the food chains and ecosystems. The topic is described in detail in the powerpoint presentation.
