In part 1 of the series, we have seen that languages are fluid and borrow words from whichever language they come in contact with. When the Britishers set up their factories in India and later ruled the land, they borrowed many words from the native languages of the land. This was explained in part 1. In this part, we shall see how words like ‘Ayyo’, ‘coolie’ and others, which are used not only in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but also several other states of India, came to be included even in the Oxford English Dictionary.
