This was an economy which every country in the world was envious of. All nations wanted to be like Indian economy. We were the benchmark. Foreign invasions put us down, or we allowed them to put us down. We have seen many movies on invasions. One packet of tobacco was enough for some people to betray his own land or King. Today we can call Indian economy a middle income developing market economy. By nominal GDP we are the sixth largest economy in the world.
