Hygiene and Sanitation

Presentations | English

Yes, we know you’ve heard all this a million times already. It bears repeating. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Don’t touch your face. Cover coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow or upper arm. Stay home if you are feeling sick, and seek appropriate medical guidance. These are instructions you have been tired of hearing. Isn’t it? Health, economic prosperity, personal security, and dignity all depend on sanitation and cleanliness. Thousands of children die every day from diarrheal illness caused by poor sanitation across the world. Many nations struggle to provide appropriate sanitation for their whole populations, putting individuals at risk of illnesses connected to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). An estimated 2.4 billion people lack access to basic sanitation across the world. Basic sanitation entails having access to facilities for the safe disposal of human waste (faeces and urine), as well as the capacity to maintain sanitary conditions through garbage collection, industrial/hazardous waste management, and wastewater treatment and disposal.
