Production, purchase, and sales functions, as well as advertising, finance, and accounting, differ from one enterprise to the next. However, management functions are shared by all business units and non-profit organisations. Initially, management may be thought of as a type of function that measures financial metrics, adjusts strategic plans, and achieves organisational goals. This is true even in situations where no planning is done. Management, according to Henri Fayol (1841–1925), consists of six functions: forecasting, planning, organising, commanding, coordinating, and controlling. He was one of the most influential contributors to modern management concepts.
