Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is a 10-day Hindu festival celebrated annually to commemorate the birth of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha, the elephant headed deity is the God of prosperity and wisdom in Hinduism. During the festival,idols of Lord Ganesha are decorated at homes and public places. The Lord is offered prayers and sweets as rituals. On the final day of the festival, idols are carried in long public processions and immersed into nearby water bodies.
