Bacteria are found in every habitat on Earth: soil, rock, oceans and even arctic snow. Some live in or on other organisms including plants and animals including humans. Bacteria reproduce primarily by binary fission, an asexual process whereby a single cell divides into two. Growth is a way to generate the materials for reproduction. Reproduction is a way to make new organisms that can grow. Bacterial growth is proliferation of bacterium into two daughter cells, in a process called binary fission. Providing no event occurs, the resulting daughter cells are genetically identical to the original cell. Hence, bacterial growth occurs. The details on growth and reproduction in Bacteria are given in the presentation.
