Generation Gap

Presentations | English

What is generation gap in simple words? A generation gap refers to the chasm that separates the beliefs and behaviours belonging to members of two different generations. More specifically, a generation gap can be used to describe the differences in thoughts, actions, and tastes exhibited by members of younger generations versus older ones. Generation gaps are caused by increased life expectancy, rapid changes in society, and the mobility of society. Effects of the generation gap include conflict among family members of different generations and misunderstandings. The majority could not enjoy family life or even too busy to spend time with families. Therefore, the generation gap between parents and their children becomes wider and wider. Parents may not know what their children are thinking about. This causes communication barriers in the family.
