"From Trade to Territory” explains the arrival of the British in India, the expansion of trade, implementation of business rules, and the consequent acquisition of power by the British within the Indian Territory. After the death of Aurangzeb, the Bengal Nawabs began to assert their power and autonomy. Murshid Quli Khan, Alivardi Khan and Sirajuddaulah became the Nawab of Bengal in succession. They refused concessions to the Company, demanded large tributes in lieu of Company's right to trade. Trade is the activity of buying, selling, or exchanging goods or services between people, firms, or countries. Trade is divided into three types. After the death of Aurangzeb, the Bengal Nawabs asserted their power and autonomy.
