Dr Vavilala Gopalakrishnaiah, also known as the Telugu Bhishma and Andhra Gandhi was a man of immense modesty and an outstanding person. He was instrumental in bringing about, leading and inspiring many freedom movements. In recognition of the remarkable person that he was and his many contributions to the society, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan and the Kalaprarurna titles.
