Forming and Extrusion

Presentations | English

In the process of extrusion, a workpiece of metal is pushed to flow through a die in order to reduce its cross section or give it the desired shape. The manufacture of steel rods and pipes makes great use of this method. The force employed to extrude the workpiece is compressive. Extrusion can be observed in everyday situations such as the squeezing of toothpaste from a tube, pushing icing from an icing bag, and shaping "Playdo." Any long shape with a consistent cross-section can be produced using extrusion moulding of plastic. PVC is possibly the most frequently extruded plastic. Extrusion can be broadly divided into four forms. Direct, indirect, impact, and hydrostatic extrusion are the four types. Visit this PPT for additional information.
