The first Telugu magazine, a monthly by the name of Satyadootha was published in 1835 from Bellary. Scholar, educator and social reformer Rao Bahadur K. Veeresalingam Panthulu garu dedicated his weekly called Vivekavardhani to social and linguistic reform. This presentation brings to you in brief the history of Telugu publications, beginning from 1835 to the current day. When and how were the various Telugu publications like Swarajya, Krishna Patrika, Janmabhoomi, Andhra Patrika, Andhra Prabha and Varta established; what are the various daily, weekly and monthly magazines in Telugu; names of some of the popular children’s publications in Telugu; the birth of the e-paper, and many such other interesting points are covered in this presentation.
