Enzymes are proteins which are used in chemical reaction to accelerate the speed that is as catalysts. In an enzymatic reaction, the molecules from the beginning of process (substrates) gets converted into different products. Vitamins are essential factors that function wide variety of capacities in the body. They act as cofactor for enzymatic reaction. A fact that is distinguishable about vitamins is that, they are not synthesized in human body they need to be supplied via diet. Non protein part of certain enzymes is called cofactors, and if they are organic they are coenzymes. These are small molecules when compared to protein and are derived from vitamins usually. They make a part of the active site, so without they an enzyme can't function. Coenzyme facilitate a reaction by carrying electrons or hydrogen ions from one atom to another or by transferring entire atoms or large molecules. So an enzyme can't be called fit for a substrate unless active site modification is done by coenzyme. Looking for more information about the topic? Have a look into the presentation.
