Electroplastic manufacturing processing (EPMP) is a relatively new metal-forming process that is energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to manufacture metals or alloys that are difficult to process by conventional manufacturing protocols. In particular, it can be used to manufacture metals or alloys that are difficult to process by conventional manufacturing protocols. Electroplastic effect in simple terms is the plastic deformation of metals with the application of high density electric current. Electroplastic forming, in which the EPE is exploited by passing a current through the work piece during processing, is particularly promising for materials that are otherwise brittle. An example are metallic-intermetallic composite materials that are – at least theoretically – capable of combining the high formability of metals and high strength of intermetallic phases. The presentation gives in-depth knowledge on the topic.
