Electromagnetic Waves

Presentations | English

In physics, electromagnetic waves are waves that are produced as a result of vibrations between an electric and magnetic field, thus giving them the name 'electromagnetic waves or in short, EM waves. They are created when the electric charge of a field is accelerated. These waves have oscillating and electric magnetic fields and they travel at the speed of light, irrespective of what type of wave they are. The 'crest' is the highest point of an electromagnetic wave and the lowest point of the wave is known as the 'trough'. Electromagnetic waves are capable of being split into a range of different frequencies which is known as the electromagnetic spectrum. Radio waves, gamma rays, infra-red rays, microwave rays are all examples of different types of EM waves. Check out the presentation to learn more.
