“The goal of early childhood education should be to achieve the child’s own natural desire to learn” – Maria Montessori. Early childhood education has a lifelong impact on an individual’s overall behaviour. It is a period that refers to the time from a child’s birth till they enter kindergarten. During this stage, children are highly influenced by the environment and the people that surround them. It's a time when children learn critical social and emotional skills and a partnership is formed between the child, their parents and the teacher. The purpose of early childhood education is to provide the children with strategies that help them develop the emotional, social and cognitive skills needed to become lifelong learners. It is more than the preparation for the primary school. It aims at the holistic development of a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a concrete and expansive foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
