What if we were to tell you that the craft that was used to create the famous 'dancing girl' figurine of the Indus Valley Civilisation is still alive and practiced very much in many parts of the country, including Telangana? Wouldn't you be amazed? Know as Dokra art, this form of bell metal casting is quite popular in Telangana. This presentation brings to you a brief overview of this art as well as another metal craft from the state known as Pembarthi Brass works. Included are historical aspects, information of the technique involved, types of artefacts created as well as names of patrons who have encouraged these art forms through the ages.
