Algorithm is about solving problems. It's a set of instructions in a particular sequence to solve a problem. The actual code for program is developed after designing and analysing the logic on how the program will work. Algorithm begins by receiving the description of the problem. Then it's analysed and a high level algorithm is developed. More details are added and algorithm is reviewed. The recipe for preparing a dish, the process of doing laundry, a search engine operation etc are examples of algorithm.
