"Democracy can be defined as a form of government in which the common people hold political power and can rule either directly or through elected representatives. It is a form of government in which the people hold the ruling power either directly or through elected representatives i.e., rule by the ruled. Fair, frequent, and well-managed elections are essential in a democracy. It explains and helps in maintaining law and order. It helps citizens to choose their leaders to run the government. It provides equal rights among citizens on the basis of caste, religion and sex. Democracy enhances the quality of decision-making and also improves the dignity of citizens. It is associated with higher human capital accumulation, lower inflation, lower political instability, and higher economic freedom. Advantages of democracy include freedom of assembly, association and speech, inclusiveness and equality, citizenship etc."
