Cosmetology includes hair styling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, and permanent or non-permanent hair removal. Students can study a variety of beauty treatments or specialise in one, and qualified cosmetologists can work as barbers, hair colour specialists, and skin care advisors, among other jobs, while others pursue more technical careers such as aesthetics. Before practising as an aesthetician, students must complete between 260 and 1500 hours of training and pass a written and practical exam, though the requirements vary depending on where you want to practice. Cosmetology is a rapidly growing industry with many long-term job opportunities. View this PPT for more information.
