Corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an individual; the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country. – Karl Kraus. Corruption is a threat to democracy and economic development in many societies. It arises in the ways people pursue, use, and exchange wealth and power, and in the strength or weakness of the state, political, and social institutions that sustain and restrain those processes. Corruption involves the abuse of a trust, generally one involving public power, for private benefit which often, but by no means always, comes in the form of money. The presentation gives further insight on the topic.
