The omission of letters and sounds characterises contractions, which are shortened word combinations (or forms). In English, this is frequently accomplished by removing certain letters and replacing them with an apostrophe (" ' "). Forms that combine a pronoun and a verb, or an auxiliary verb and a negative modifier, are common contraction words. The pronoun "I" and the verb "to be" have a common conjugation structure of "I am." This conjugation becomes "I'm" in its contracted form. There are various contraction lists available and you can check them out below.
