Environmental engineering is a discipline of engineering concerned with safeguarding people from the harmful consequences of the environment, such as pollution. It is also focused with increasing the quality of the environment. An environmental engineer's responsibilities include increasing recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control. Environmental engineers apply engineering, earth science, biology, and chemistry concepts to develop answers to the world's various environmental problems. Environmental Engineers are responsible for the design, planning, and execution of engineering tasks related to the prevention, control, and mitigation of risks that affect public health and the environment. These responsibilities are carried out using principles from mathematics, biology, chemistry, and other scientific areas. Environmental engineers are concerned with issues such as clean drinking water, waste treatment and disposal, air quality, water pollution, and the remediation of hazardous substance-contaminated areas on a local and global scale.
