Classification of Muscles

Presentations | English

Are you aware of the functions of the Muscular system? The muscle is the tissue of the body that primarily functions as a source of power. The muscular system is composed of specialized cells called muscle fibers. Their predominant function is contractibility. Muscles, attached to bones or internal organs and blood vessels, are responsible for movement. Nearly all movement in the body is the result of muscle contraction. The three main types of muscle include: Skeletal muscle – the specialized tissue that is attached to bones and allows movement Smooth muscle – located in various internal structures including the digestive tract, uterus, and blood vessels such as arteries. Cardiac muscle – the muscle-specific to the heart. The gluteus maximus is the largest muscle in the human body. The five main functions of the muscular system are movement, support, protection, heat generation, and blood circulation. The tongue is an extremely movable set of muscles, which is well-supplied with blood and has many nerves. They also help the body do such things as chewing food and then moving it through the digestive system.
