Cell Biology

Presentations | English

During the period when philosophy of science focused primarily on laws, cell biology was largely neglected. But cell biology is at the heart of all biological disciplines, and it's crucial to understanding how illnesses start and advance. When it comes to understanding how cells work (such as biochemical processes), cell biologists must not only observe but also alter cells and their constituent structures in order to create useful models. The goal of cell biology is to understand the structure and physiological function of individual cells, how they interact with their environment, and how vast numbers of cells work together to build tissues and organisms. Cell biology considers cells in terms of the chemicals that make them up and on which their functions rely. It is particularly concerned with nucleic acids and proteins (because to their major functions in information transfer and expression), enzymes (as chemical change agents), and lipids (as components of membranous structures). It has to be really 'biochemical'.
