“Crop Production and Management” is a chapter in the NCERT science textbook of standard VIII. All living organisms require food. While most plants can make their food themselves, almost all animals including humans cannot make their own food. They are directly or indirectly dependent on their energy needs on plants. The energy from the food is utilized by organisms for carrying out their various bodily functions, such as digestion, respiration, and excretion. To provide food for an ever increasing human population is a challenge. Proper production, effective management and distribution of food is necessary.
