The Telugu language is not only blessed with great many texts and writers but also with multiple storytelling artforms. One amongst these is the Burrakatha. While not much is known of its origins, there exist some speculations about where it could have originated. This presentation offers in detail many aspects of this storytelling form including theories of its origins, forms, technique, dress codes, its difference from other similar art forms like Yakshaganam, the role of the various storytellers, the instruments used, the themes told and so on.
