Black holes are empty areas of space that contain matter compressed into a very small area. Even light cannot escape its tremendously powerful gravitational force, which is pulling it in. The phenomena might be enormous or little, and it happens when a star is dying. While the greatest black holes are considered to as "supermassive" and have masses greater than a million suns combined, the smaller black holes are thought to be as tiny as a single atom. View this PPT for more information about the black hole.
