Bioethics

Bioethics is the study of the ethical issues emerging from advances in biology and medicine. It is concerned with the ethical questions that arise in the relationships among life sciences, biotechnology, medicine and medical ethics, politics, law, theology and philosophy. The topic often refer to the four basic principles of health care ethics when evaluating the merits and difficulties of medical procedures. It includes the study of what is right and wrong in new discoveries and techniques in biology, such as genetic engineering and the transplantation of organs. It includes the study of values relating to primary care and other branches of medicine (the ethics of the ordinary). Examples of topic areas that have been the focus of study for a long time are organ donation and transplantation, genetic research, death and dying and environmental concerns. It demands the objective evaluation of how our values, desires, and actions affect others, including animals and the environment.
