Attukal Bhagavathy Temple, also known as the Sabarimala for women, is situated in Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala. Even though Attukal Pongala is related to Hindu religion, many women from the Christian communities too offer Pongala to the Goddess. In the year 1997, this event was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records with a women participation of 1.5 million. This record was again broken in the year 2009, with a new record of 2.5 million women. Women offer special dishes to Goddess in earthen pots on the ninth day of the festival.
സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ശബരിമല എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ആറ്റുകാൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം കേരളത്തിലെ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്താണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ആറ്റുകാൽ പൊങ്കാല ഹിന്ദുമതവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടതാണെങ്കിലും, ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ സമുദായങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള നിരവധി സ്ത്രീകളും ദേവിക്ക് പൊങ്കാല അർപ്പിക്കുന്നു. 1997-ൽ, 1.5 ദശലക്ഷം സ്ത്രീ പങ്കാളിത്തത്തോടെ ഗിന്നസ് ബുക്ക് ഓഫ് വേൾഡ് റെക്കോർഡിൽ ഈ സംഭവം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തപ്പെട്ടു. ഈ റെക്കോർഡ് 2009-ൽ വീണ്ടും തകർത്തു, 2.5 ദശലക്ഷം ആണ് സ്ത്രീകളുടെ പുതിയ റെക്കോർഡ്. ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഒൻപതാം ദിവസം സ്ത്രീകൾ മൺപാത്രങ്ങളിൽ ദേവിക്ക് പ്രത്യേക വിഭവങ്ങൾ സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
