Have you ever wondered how this universe was formed? These countless stars, galaxies, nebulas- what are they all made up of? Is the universe expanding? Or is it shrinking? These are the questions that inspire an astrophysicist in his/her work. An astrophysicist uses the laws and concepts of physics and chemistry to explain the birth and death of stars, planets, galaxies and other celestial bodies. An astrophysicist tries to answer the question: why are we here? They research and investigate the formation of stars, its evolution and finally its death. Black holes, dark matter etc. are interesting terms for them. It is none other than Newton who is credited with developing astrophysics into a separate branch and formulating some of its basic theories. Are we alone in this universe? Is there life on other planets? These are the questions that continue to boggle them. With researches bringing up new discoveries every day, we as humans are gaining a greater understanding of this wonderful universe and our place in it. The universe is altering continuously and so is our understanding of it and astrophysics as a discipline of science is developing too. Now let us look at this presentation to delve deeper and understand this universe and in turn ourselves better.
