Arunodayam Pole is a devotional song from the malayalam album Ayyan, which was released in 2005. S. Kumar wrote the music for the Arunodayam Pole song. MG. Sreekumar sang Arunodayam Pole. Although devotion to Ayyappan was common in the past, it only became popular in South India in the late twentieth century. He is the son of Shiva and Mohini according to Hindu mythology. Ayyappa, Sastavu, Hariharasudhan, Manikandan, Shasta or Dharma Shasta, and Sabarinath are some of the other names for Ayyappan. The iconography of Ayyappan depicts him as a handsome celibate (Brahmachari) God doing yoga and as an epitome of Dharma, who wears a bell around his neck. In the Hindu tradition popular in the Western Ghats of India, he was born with the powers of Shiva and Vishnu to confront and defeat the shape shifting evil Buffalo demoness Mahishi. He was raised by a childless royal couple Rajashekara pandiyan and Koperundevi, and grows up as a warrior yogi champion of ethical and dharmic living.
2005ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ അയ്യൻ എന്ന മലയാളം ആൽബത്തിലെ ഒരു ഭക്തിഗാനമാണ് അരുണോദയം പോലെ. എം.ജി. ശ്രീകുമാർ ആണ് ഈ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചത്. അയ്യപ്പനോടുള്ള ഭക്തി പണ്ട് സാധാരണമായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയിൽ അത് പ്രചാരത്തിലായത് ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാനത്തോടെ മാത്രമാണ്. ഹിന്ദു പുരാണമനുസരിച്ച് ശിവന്റെയും മോഹിനിയുടെയും മകനാണ് അയ്യപ്പൻ. ശാസ്താവ്, ഹരിഹരസുധൻ, മണികണ്ഠൻ, ശാസ്താവ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ധർമ്മ ശാസ്താവ്, ശബരിനാഥ് എന്നിവയും അയ്യപ്പന്റെ മറ്റു ചില പേരുകളാണ്. അയ്യപ്പന്റെ പ്രതിരൂപം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ യോഗ ചെയ്യുന്ന സുന്ദരനായ ബ്രഹ്മചാരിയായ ദൈവമായും കഴുത്തിൽ മണി ധരിച്ച ധർമ്മത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീകമായും ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രചാരത്തിലുള്ള ഹിന്ദു പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽ, രൂപമാറ്റം വരുത്തുന്ന എരുമ രാക്ഷസൻ മഹിഷിയെ നേരിടാനും പരാജയപ്പെടുത്താനുമുള്ള ശിവന്റെയും വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെയും ശക്തികളോടെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ജനിച്ചത്. കുട്ടികളില്ലാത്ത രാജകീയ ദമ്പതികളായ രാജശേഖര പാണ്ഡ്യനും കോപെരുന്ദേവിയും വളർത്തിയ അദ്ദേഹം, ധാർമികമായ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഒരു യോദ്ധാവായി വളരുന്നു
