Born in the city of Madras, Tamil Nadu, on the 6th of January, 1967 as Dileep Kumar, A R Rahman has in no way disappointed the art of music. He was able to recognise his musical talent from a very young age, when he started playing piano and keyboard for his father in his studio at the age of just four. His father was a film – core composer in the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. He is one amongst the most successful music artists of all times with several, national and international prestigious awards to his name – from bagging six Indian National awards to two Grammy’s, BAFTA’s, Oscar’s and Golden Globe’s each, the living legend that is A R Rahman continues to make headlines. He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan, the nation’s third highest civilian honour in the year 2010.
