Do you know that a disorder can occur through genetics? Well, Antisocial Personality Disorder is influenced by 41% genetics, 40% shared environment and 19% non-shared environment. A pattern of socially irresponsible, exploitative, and guiltless behaviour characterises antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). Co-occurring mental health and addiction disorders, as well as medical comorbidities, are linked to ASPD. Natural and unnatural deaths (suicide, homicide and accidents) are at alarmingly high levels ASPD is linked to a poor treatment outcome. ASPD manifests very early in life, usually by the age of eight. If antisocial behaviours persist after being diagnosed with conduct disorder as a kid, the diagnosis is changed to ASPD at the age of 18. While most people with ASPD have it for the rest of their lives, it tends to become better as they get older. Patients with antisocial personality disorder often do not feel guilty or remorse for their behaviours, making treatment difficult. In certain circumstances, incarceration combined with cognitive behavioural therapy and substance misuse treatments has proven to be successful. As a person grows older, antisocial personality disorder may improve on its own.
