The Android operating system was created by Google (GOOGL) to be used largely on touchscreen devices, cell phones, and tablets. Its design allows users to interact with mobile devices naturally, using finger gestures that mimic typical actions like pinching, swiping, and tapping. Google's Android software may also be found in televisions, automobiles, and wristwatches, each with its own user interface. The Android operating system was created by Android, Inc., a Silicon Valley-based software firm, before being bought by Google in 2005. Since that acquisition, investors and electronics industry observers have questioned Google's actual ambitions for entering the mobile sector. In any event, Google announced the upcoming release of their first commercially accessible Android-powered smartphone in 2007, despite the fact that the device didn't enter the market until 2008.
