Alzheimer’s disease is a death before death! Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurologic disorder that causes the brain to shrink and brain cells to die. In course of time the brain cell connections and the cells themselves degenerate and die, which eventually results in memory loss and affects many mental functions. It is the most common type of dementia. It is a progressive disease beginning with mild memory loss and possibly leading to loss of the ability to carry on a conversation and respond to the environment. Alzheimer's disease involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. It is caused by the abnormal build- up of proteins in and around brain cells. The four staged of Alzheimer's disease are preclinical stage, Mild-early stage, moderate- middle stage, severe- late stage. Memory loss and confusion are the main symptoms. There is no cure for this medical condition, but medication and management of strategies may temporarily improve symptoms.
