India is a land of many cultures and religions and each community has its own set of codes that govern aspects of family and marriage. The Indian Legal system is sensitive to this issue and has in place many rules that are specific to different religious groups. This presentation attempts to outline the various adoption rights given to people according to various religious codes. It specifies the eligibility criteria for both male and females to adopt children, criteria and rules in place for those wishing to give away their child in adoption, and so on.
