Acids, Bases and Salts doesn’t only represent the fundamental concepts of chemistry but it makes life on this planet possible. These substances together run this planet at the basic levels, these concepts were well known even by the earliest civilizations like that of Greek, Egyptians, Romans and Chinese who not only understood these concepts but manipulated them for their livelihood. However, the modern-day concepts and definitions majorly come from Arrhenius, Bronsted-Lowry and Lewis theories who have explained these substances based on their ionic properties. Depending upon the ionic properties and their ability to lose their (protons/hydroxide ions) into aqueous solution, acids or bases can be strong or weak, that does have a tremendous significance in our lives. This presentation aims to define acids, bases and salts, their characteristics and types along with their applications in our day-to-day life.
